CPI Celebrates Second Year during the 16th International Congress of Immunology
In celebration of the Centre for Personalised Immunology’s (CPI) second year we held a dinner at the Myer Family Company in Melbourne. We were honoured to have ANU Vice-Chancellor Professor Brian Schmidt AC and CPI Chairman Mr Peter Yates AM host the event.
Guests included Professor Kiaran Kirk (Dean of the ANU College of Medicine, Biology and Environment) and Mr Martyn Myer (Chairman of The Myer Family Company). The dinner was held during the week of the 16th International Congress of Immunology (ICI) held in Melbourne. Distinguished scientists from around the world who attended ICI and the dinner included Professor Adriana Gruppi from Ciudad Universitaria (Argentina), Professor Bart Lambrecht and Professor Hamida Hammad from VIB Inflammation Research Center (Belgium), Dr Facundo Batista Ragon Institute of MGH, MIT and Harvard (USA), Dr Federica Sallusto from the Institute for Research in Biomedicine (Switzerland) and Professor Barbara Fazekas de St Groth from The University of Sydney (Australia). Professor Gruppi and Professor Fazekas de St Groth spoke about the challenges and opportunities in the future of genomic medicine and the importance of research centres like the CPI.
Ms Carla Steiner, President of the Lupus Foundation, spoke about her personal experience with lupus from the patient perspective and highlighted the need for research into this autoimmune disease.
We would like to thank everyone who came to the dinner, especially Vice-Chancellor Professor Brian Schmidt (AC), Mr Peter Yates (AM) for hosting and Mr Martyn Myer for the use of Myer’s function room.
