How does it work?

 

We, at the CPI, cannot know in advance how quickly research findings will translate into improved treatments but we do know it will get faster with more resources to build the process across diseases.  

Example of the CPI approach:

The CPI discovered a mutation in a gene called TREX1 in a little girl with severe lupus and this led to too much interferon-alpha being produced that causes inflammation. She is now a candidate for a new drug on the market that targets interferon-alpha.
